Leading the way - KIVINET and FINCA Microfinance Bank train the VICOBA leaders at Mwanga district
Last week, KIVINET went to Mwanga, one of the seven districts of the Kilimanjaro Region. The KIVINET staff, together with a representative of FINCA Microfinance Bank, met with the local VICOBA leaders.
One of KIVINET's most important tasks is training VICOBA leaders. Each VICOBA can have up to 9 leaders. Since more than 500 VICOBAs are affiliated with KIVINET, our NGO frequently has to organise trainings to teach new leaders how VICOBAs work and also provide meetings for existing leaders on how to manage the VICOBAs effectively.
During the training at Mwanga, KIVINET advised the leaders to limit each VICOBA group to a maximum of 30 participants. One group of the Mwanga district had reached a number of 90 participants, which made it difficult to manage the VICOBA.
The leaders were very grateful to Mr. Mushi of KIVINET (left) and Mr. Gerard of FINCA (right) for their support and guidance.
